Jacobs
Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) has been selected by Minsur
S.A., one of the world’s largest tin producers, to perform the
pre-feasibility and conceptual studies for the company’s proposed tin
mine development project in Peru. Both the conceptual and
pre-feasibility studies are being undertaken to extend the life of
Minsur’s San Rafael tin processing facilities located near Puno, Peru.
The objective of the pre-feasibility study is to define the highest
value option for accessing the richest tin zone in the proposed project
location and will include structural geology, geotechnical services,
hydrogeology and tunneling design. The conceptual study will include
mine development, infrastructure, water management, metallurgical test
support and upgrades to the existing concentrator to process tin ore
that also contains copper and silver.
